Radisa Antic PhD (Andrews)

Position: Director, Ellen G. White/SDA Research Centre, Newbold College
Principal Lecturer in Systematic Theology and Philosophy

Research Interests: History of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Christology, Eschatology, Sanctuary

Radisa Antic has served as pastor in various churches in the former Yugoslavia, youth director in the South Conference of SEEUC, Principal of the Belgrade Theological Seminary and President of the South-East European Union.

Jan Barna PhD (Trinity College, Bristol)

Position: Lecturer in Systematic and Biblical Theology


Research Interests:
 Theological Methodology; Ordination of Women

Jan Barna has worked as a pastor for several years in Slovakia. In addition to his pastoral experience, he holds a degree in leadership and has just completed his doctorate in Systematic Theology at Trinity College, Bristol.

 Andreas Bochmann

Andreas Bochmann PhD (Loyola College in Maryland)

Position: Senior Lecturer in Pastoral Studies: Pastoral Care and Counselling

Research Interests: Premarital and marital counselling, personality and ministerial formation

Andreas Bochmann has worked as pastor, hospital chaplain, pastoral counsellor and lecturer in Germany and he is fellow of the American Assossiation of Pastoral Counselors. With this background, he enjoys the challenge and opportunity of building bridges between people, organisations, and scientific disciplines.
He currently holds a joint appointment with Newbold College and Friedensau Adventist University.

Manuela Casti MA (King's College)

Position: Lecturer in Pastoral Ministry and Mission

Manuela Casti has served as youth leader and lecturer in Italy (Istituto Avventista di Cultura Biblica "Villa Aurora") and in France (Campus Adventiste du Salève, Colonge). She has also been director of the EUD-TED Centre for Youth Ministry and project leader of the successful European Valuegenesis survey. She is presently working on her doctorate in Practical Theology at King's College, University of London.

Stephen Currow DMin (Fuller Theological)

Position: Postgraduate Studies Course Director
Senior Lecturer in Pastoral Studies: Church Ministry and Mission
Director of Student Placement

Research Interests: Church Life and Growth, Missiology

Stephen Currow has served as Church Pastor/Evangelist, Youth Director and College Lecturer in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea before coming to Newbold College. A graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, his main interests reside in the areas of ministry and mission having devoted some time to researching trends in church life and practice. He has had significant involvement with the International Church Life Survey and is a coach for Natural Church Development.

Aulikki Nahkola DPhil (Oxford)

Position: Principal Lecturer in Old Testament and Biblical Languages

Research Interests: Method and History of Interpretation / Hermeneutics; Old Testament, Biblical Languages

Dr Nahkola has wide lecturing experience, having taught in Ghana, California and other pastoral/theological institutions in England.

Michael Pearson DPhil (Oxford)

Position: Vice Principal Principal Lecturer in Ethics and Spirituality

Research Interests: Ethics of Life and Death, Human Sexuality, Virtue; Diversity in Spiritual Journeys

Michael Pearson is currently Vice Principal as well as being a member of the department. That in itself throws up a range of ethical dilemmas.
He likes to explore the relationship between Christian spirituality and everyday ethical problems. Together with his wife, Helen, who is a counsellor, he offers retreats and workshops in these areas of interest.

Gunnar Pedersen ThD (Andrews)

Position: Head of Department
Principal Lecturer in Systematic and Biblical Theology

Research Interests:
The theme of redemption

Gunnar Pedersen has served as Pastor, Youth director, Bible Teacher and Union President in Denmark prior to coming to Newbold  College in 1995. In his teaching he specialises in Seventh-day Adventist Theology and Theological Method.

  Gifford Rhamie

Gifford Rhamie MA (Andrews)

Position: Lecturer in Pastoral Studies: Word and Worship

Research Interests: Pastoral Studies, Biblical Languages

Gifford Rhamie, a native of London, is an ordained pastor with several years of pastoral experience in South England, where he also served as the church’s regional Director of Music Ministry before joining Newbold in 1999. He teaches Pastoral and Biblical Studies and has research interests in mission within the book of Acts and its Greco-Roman setting.

Laurence Turner PhD (Sheffield)

Position: Director of Research Degrees
Principal Lecturer in Old Testament

Research Interests: Old Testament Exegesis and Theology

Laurence Turner has been a pastor in England and spent nine years as a lecturer in Australia. He has teaching and research interests in Biblical Studies, particularly in Old Testament narrative and the books of Genesis and Esther.

 Jean-Claude Verrecchia
 

Jean-Claude Verrecchia Docteur en sciences religieuses (Strasbourg University, France)

Position: Principal Lecturer in New Testament studies

Research Interests:
New Testament Exegesis and Theology

Jean-Claude Verrecchia has served as a teacher in the Cameroons and as a pastor in France. More recently at Collonges, the Seventh-day Adventist College just outside Geneva, he was Principal and then Dean of the Department of Theology. His specialist areas are New Testament and hermeneutics. He also works for the United Bible Society as Bible-translator supervisor.

Cedric Vine MA (Newbold)

Position:  Lecturer in New Testament Studies, Course Director for BD (Hons)

Research Interests: 
New Testament Theology and Pauline Epistles

Cedric Vine served as a student missionary in Poland for some time, teaching a range of business and English language subjects and co-ordinated the development of a school curriculum at the Polish SDA Seminary in Podkowa Lesna. He then went on to teach English Communication in the School of English here at Newbold and also taught the English language for Newbold's distance learning programme in Latvia for a few years part time. Before taking on a part-time teaching position in Newbold's Theology Department, he pastored the Derby district of churches for several years. In 2009, he began a full-time position as one of Newbold's New Testament Studies lecturers.
