Ivan Milanov

Senior Lecturer in Old Testament

Ivan Milanov

BTh MA PhD

I have been working at Newbold in the full-time capacity since December 2015. Between 2007–2013, I taught at undergraduate lever at Newbold the Old Testament part of ‘Biblical Apocalyptic’ as a contract lecturer.  From 2010–2015 I taught at Belgrade Theological Seminary (Serbia) the following modules: Hebrew I, Hebrew II, Pentateuch, Old Testament Prophets and the Book of Daniel. During the academic 2012 and 2016, I taught at the Adventist Faculty in Marusevec, Croatia, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

I am also an ordained pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. I served both as pastor in my native Macedonia and my wife’s native Serbia. I pastored small and large congregations between 2000–2003 and 2011–2015 and spent two and a half of my eight years of active pastoral ministry in church planting. I conducted more than fifteen evangelistic campaigns as a local pastor. I still preach on a regular basis, record interviews, participate in evangelistic campaigns and give bible studies.

I am a specialist for the book of Daniel. However, my expertise and personal interest include the study of the Later Prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and the Twelve-colloquially known as Minor Prophets). My current favourite book is the book of Jonah. I have been fascinated by the book of Genesis and Song of Songs as well.

The themes of the Old Testament that interest me are hubris (ultimate pride), ethics, social justice, race, nation and sexuality
