Biblical Studies
  • RACE, IDENTITY AND NATION (autumn 2022)

    This module explores concepts of race, identity and nation from a biblical and sociological standpoint, where you will assess your attitude toward racism and nationalism. These issues have resulted in significant conflicts worldwide; you will learn how to effectively deal with them from a biblical and pastoral perspective.

  • OLD TESTAMENT PROPHETS (autumn 2022)

    The aim of this module is to understand the role of the prophets, their messages, and the application of prophecies in our contemporary context. It will help you better understand your role as a spiritual leader and equip you to apply the prophetic message in pastoral ministry efficiently.

  • COSMIC CONFLICT (spring 2023)

    A core concept of the Old and New Testament world, this module focuses on exegeting key biblical texts featuring the main characteristics of the Cosmic Conflict. You will learn essential concepts and how to deal with complex issues such as the existence of evil, suffering, hope and salvation.

  • PREACHING BIBLICAL NARRATIVES (spring 2023)

    This module aims to understand the principles of interpreting biblical narratives and using them as an interpretive tool for preparing effective sermons. You will improve your understanding of literary techniques used in biblical texts, apply them to your sermons and preach with inspiration, clarity and conviction.

  • ABLEISM AND DISABILITY (spring 2023)

    The need for understanding the concept of disability in the Bible and its implications is essential in a contemporary context. This module will help you grasp a broader biblical perspective on disability and equip you for an effective ministry to less abled individuals.

  • DANIEL AND REVELATION (spring 2023)

    Studying Daniel and Revelation gives you the methodology for interpreting apocalyptic prophecies, critical evaluation of non-biblical interpretations, and sound interpretation of the prophecies. This module will prepare you to preach and teach these two exceptional books in a balanced way, with a healthy attitude towards the end-time events.

Systematic Theology
  • PRINCIPLES AND METHODS OF THEOLOGY (autumn 2022)

    This module will show you how to approach Christian and non-Christian ideas, topics, or authors and understand them in such a way as to challenge them successfully. You will learn about theological thinking, the role unrecognised assumptions play in reading and interpreting the Scripture and the reality surrounding us.

  • ECCLESIOLOGY (autumn 2022)

    Taking this module will enable you to engage critically and constructively with the issues raised in ecclesiological conversations on the nature and scope of the Church’s authority and offices. It encompasses the ecclesiological criteria for determining organisational practices that govern the ministries and mission of Christians.

  • ADVENTIST THEOLOGY IN CONTEXT (autumn 2022)

    Understanding the complex historical and theological development of Adventist theology requires thorough analysis. This module introduces you to the five formative periods of Adventist theology and their unique contributions to the Church. It also provides an in- depth analysis of the prophetic role of Ellen White and her theological legacy.

  • SOTERIOLOGY AND ESCHATOLOGY (spring 2023)

    This module offers in-depth historical, theological and biblical discussions of the basic elements of soteriology and eschatology. You will have the opportunity to critically engage with the specific language of salvation, concepts of justification and divine judgement and undertake a focused journey into the book of Romans and related soteriological debates.

  • LEADING MOTIFS IN ADVENTIST THEOLOGY (spring 2023)

    Developing an understanding of unique Adventist teachings and their complex theological paradigm lies at the core of this module. You will learn to critically examine the motifs of Scripture, divine judgement and eschatology, the ‘immortality of the soul’, the Sabbath and the salvific work of Christ and His Spirit.

  • THEMES IN BIBLICAL THEOLOGY (spring 2023)

    Learning how to approach Scripture in its entirety as one book, telling a unified narrative about God and the world, is the foundation of this module. Starting with Genesis, you will explore biblical material in a structured way and develop an understanding of the varied themes in the Bible.

  • PASTORAL CARE AND COUNSELLING (autumn 2022)

    This module helps you understand the biblical framework for counselling and critically assess insights gained from other disciplines such as psychology, sociology, and counselling theory. It will equip you with skills you can use in practical pastoral work by helping people experiencing mental and emotional upheavals.

  • CHURCH LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION (spring 2023)

    Church leadership and administration are vital to successful ministry. This module will help you understand how your leadership development comes through in your character, skills and influence. It will enable you to assess different leadership styles and adapt them for practical use in a local church environment.

  • CHRISTIAN APOLOGETICS (spring 2023)

    In this module, you will learn to discuss, biblically and theologically, selected topics which create dialogue and controversy. You will also learn how to approach and respond to discourses on the problem of evil, the existence of God, the authority of Scripture and the tension between religion and science.

  • DIGITAL DISCIPLESHIP (autumn & spring 2022/23)

    This is a cutting-edge module that will help you to gain an understanding of biblical models of communication and ministry. It will enable you to apply what you have learned to communicate the Gospel through a broad range of contemporary digital media such as social media, live-streaming and radio.

  • PLANTING AND REVITALISING HEALTHY CHURCHES (spring 2023)

    Church planting and revitalisation are crucial to a church’s growth and survival. This module will reveal sociological and culturological factors impacting the planting of churches and the development of Christian discipleship. You will learn how to coach a local congregation, strategically plan for inclusive evangelism, and revitalise your church community.
