MA Theology – Independent Study Scholarship

Overview
The MA Theology Independent Study Scholarship is designed to support academically qualified, self-funded students enrolling in the Master of Arts in Theology programme. The scholarship particularly aims to encourage applicants who are able to study online (synchronous delivery) or who do not require a UK student visa.
Scholarship Value
- £1,500 per semester
- Awarded for full-time study only
- Renewable for subsequent semesters, subject to conditions (see below)
Number of Awards
- A maximum of 5 scholarships are available for the Autumn 2026/27 intake
- Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, to applicants who meet all eligibility and admission requirements
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered, applicants must:
- Have applied for the MA in Theology programme, as a full-time student
- Be self-funded, meaning:
- Not in receipt of church sponsorship
- Not sponsored by an employer or organisation
- Not receiving another major scholarship or funding covering a substantial portion of tuition fees
- Be able to:
- Study online via synchronous delivery, OR
- Study without requiring a UK student visa
Selection and Awarding
- Scholarships are awarded to applicants who:
- Meet all academic and admission requirements
- Complete the admissions process and accept their offer
- Awards are made in chronological order of completed applications and confirmed acceptance, until all 5 scholarships have been allocated
Renewal Conditions
The scholarship is renewable each semester, subject to:
- Maintaining satisfactory academic performance (minimum progression standard as defined by the College) and good disciplinary standing
- Continued full-time enrolment in the programme
- No debits related to tuition in the student account
Failure to meet these conditions may result in withdrawal of the scholarship.
Conditions of Award
- The scholarship:
- Applies only to tuition fees
- Is not transferable or exchangeable for cash
- Cannot be combined with other major institutional scholarships
