Helpful information and resources

We appreciate that every financial circumstance is completely individual, and also understand that supporting resources are unique to each country. We’re here to walk alongside you on this journey and hope the sponsorship resources below serve useful.

Finland

Write a letter to the Union Treasurer (Harri Saarinen) or the Union Secretary declaring your intention to study here at Newbold.  They will give you bespoke advice on how to best proceed with your individual situation.

The fund associated with the union to help students is called the Teuvo Miettinen Säätiö. Upon request for funding support, you may be asked to create a financial plan and estimate costs and calculations across your tuition and credits, rent, food and other elements.

Ways to apply:

Finnish Union

Write a letter (this can be done via email) for the attention of the Union Treasurer (Harri Saarinen) declaring your intention to study here at Newbold.

Student Financial Aid

It will be important to understand your rights to student finance if you have already used a student loan for a first degree, but Kela will be able to confirm what is available to you through the application process.

Way to apply for the loan:

  • Log in to the online customer service using your BankID or mobile ID
  • Scan or take a photo of all the request supporting documentation and send them online
  • Visit the e-service to see if your application has been decided, along with how much you’ll get and when you will be paid. Alternatively, you will also see any possible concerns (e.g. a missing document from your application).
  • You will also receive the decision via post.

For more information or to apply, visit the official Kela website, there is a lot of detailed information on there worth looking into.

Norway

Ways to apply:

Norwegian Union

Write a letter (this can be done via email) to the Union President and/or the Union Secretary declaring your intention to study here at the College.

Government Loan

Many of our students from Norway have found The Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund,  Lånekassen, to offer full financial support throughout their entire duration of study.

You can apply for financial support from The Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund,  Lånekassen (if you opt for this option, remember it is recommended to pursue this path for funding only, and not approach other avenues as this will reduce the amount you receive from Lånekassen).

Way to apply for the loan:

  • Apply here
  • Scroll down to «Årets søknad» and push the «Gå til søknaden» button.
  • Log in by using your electronic ID, like BankID, MINID, BankID på mobil etc.
  • Complete the application form

Lånekassen will then review your application and personally let you know the documents that you need to provide in order to process this.

You may approach your Church Union to learn of the ways they may be able to support you, unfortunately government loans are not an option for students from The Netherlands.

Ways to apply:

Netherlands Union

Write a letter (this can be done via email) to the Union President and/or the Union Secretary declaring your intention to study here at Newbold

You may be interviewed during this process, and if you are eligible for sponsorship, this will be communicated with the Trans-European Division (TED), the Personnel Committee and the Executive Committee. The TED Union Application for Sponsorship Assistance will be completed and the student may receive support* from both the Dutch Union and the TED across tuition, room and board.

*please note, this may not be 100% sponsorship, there may be a set amount of which you will need to contribute, depending on your situation.
