Newbold College of Higher Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexandre (Alex) Orihuela Ghiorzi as Head of Marketing & Digital Strategy, a newly unified role bringing together the College's campus recruitment and Newbold Connect digital strategy under a single leadership function, effective June 2026.
For many at Newbold, Alex is already a familiar face, and his path here has been anything but conventional.
Alex's career began as an officer in the Army in his hometown in southern Brazil. A call to mission service led him to Europe and Iraq, where he has been stationed for the past decade. In Iraq, he served with the MENA Union for three years alongside his wife, Fernanda de Seixas Scozziero, the College's Admissions Officer. He was a Waldensian Student in 2016 and a Global Mission Pioneer from 2018 to 2020, both time in Erbil, Iraq. During his time there, he helped establish a Centre of Influence, developed the centre outreach through digital media, and taught English to approximately 70 students across five classes. He also supported a small community of believers near the Turkish border and fostered enduring relationships.
Alex's connection to Newbold began in 2015 as a volunteer at the College's Summer School of English. He served as Residential Dean of Men from 2017 to 2018, providing pastoral care and fostering community life for students in residence. Returning to the UK in 2020, Alex enrolled at Newbold as a student himself, earning a Graduate Diploma in Biblical and Pastoral Studies (Distinction), an MA in Theology with a focus on Old Testament studies (Merit), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Mission (Distinction), while working as a Student Staff member.
Alex previously led Newbold Connect through its development and public launch. His new role brings that experience together with responsibility for the College's wider marketing, brand, and campus recruitment strategy.
"As part of Newbold's ongoing commitment to strategic development and organisational effectiveness, we have brought together our Marketing & Communications and eLearning departments to form a new Marketing & Digital Strategy Department. This integration reflects our vision of uniting communication, digital innovation, and online education to strengthen Newbold's mission and extend its reach. We are pleased to announce that Alexandre Ghirozi will lead the new department. He combines experience in administration with a background in business and has played a vital role in the development of Newbold Connect."
Dan Serb, Principal of Newbold College
With his blend of pastoral experience, international mission work, and digital innovation, we hope Alex is well placed to lead Newbold into its next chapter of growth and connection. The College community warmly welcomes him into this new role and looks forward to the vision and creativity he will bring as he continues to serve and inspire both on campus and online.
