The Roundup – Episode 1

A collective of ideas to inspire you, each and every week.

At Newbold, we believe in the power of Monday motivation.

“The Roundup” is an exciting new digital collective of uplifting content that we’ll be sharing with you each Monday, to inspire you for the week ahead. We might share a cool extract from a book or a poem we’ve been reading, or reveal a song of the week that has inspired us, or just offer some tips to encourage balance and wellbeing that really work.

Our Chaplain Alastair Agbaje kicks off The Roundup with his recommendations for the week:

Health tip: Run!

Running motivates, releases natural endorphins, eliminates stress and encourages a balance to life and emotional wellbeing. Alastair has been using Couch to 5K to get him started, check it out!
PS. If a brisk walk is more of your thing, that's definitely an option.

Book of the week

  • Inattention to results
  • Avoidance of accountability

  • Fear of conflict
  • Absence of trust

This New York Times best-seller outlines a model to build a fully-functioning, tenacious and connected team.

Song of the week

"No Weapon" - Fred Hammond

This week’s song is “No Weapon” by Grammy-award winning gospel singer, record producer and bass Player, Fred Hammond. Released in 1999, this song is inspired by the biblical book of Isaiah 54:17.

Alastair has chosen this following the recent passing of a close friend and member of the Newbold community. What he loves about this track is the promise God has given. That despite the challenges the we face in this life, God will be there. He continues: “Even if there are many darts of weapons fired against us, God has informed us that he will guide and lead us in all our trials and our difficulties.”

Food tip: Avoid eating after 8pm!

This may well reduce nighttime heartburn or indigestion and improve the quality of your sleep! Top tip: If you get the munchies, try a carrot!

Bible Verse of the Week:

"No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD. - Isaiah 54:17
