The Roundup – Episode 2

A collective of ideas to inspire you, each and every week.

At Newbold, we believe in the power of Monday motivation.

“The Roundup” is an exciting digital collective of uplifting content that we’ll be sharing with you each Monday, to inspire you for the week ahead. We might share a cool extract from a book or a poem we’ve been reading, or reveal a song of the week that has inspired us, or just offer some tips to encourage balance and wellbeing that really work.

Our Chaplain Alastair Agbaje continues the series with this week’s recommendations:

Inspire tip: support your community!

Alastair highlights the "One Vision Project", based at Stanborough Church in Watford. This is an action group that aims to bring non-profit charities and individuals together through forums, training and dedicated events to empower and enhance the local communities. "The Project’s vision is of a community where people come together to support the vulnerable, promote equality and address injustice." In response to COVID-19, the group has been providing food supplies for those that are most vulnerable.

Book of the week

Boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend

“Boundaries” is written by American Christian self-help author Dr. Henry Cloud, and American Christian self-help author, business consultant, leadership coach and psychologist, Dr. John Townsend.

This series of practical literature focuses on how to set clear boundaries in relationships (from partners, parents and children to friends and co-workers) but also with ourselves. You will delve into an exploration of mental, physical and emotional examples of boundaries that may resonate with you, and offer you a new-found perspective. Biblical scripture compliments the fundamental principles that run through the titles.

If you’re looking for ways to enhance a sense of balance in health and lifestyle, this is a winner.

Bible Verse of the Week

Ephesians 3:17-19

17 “…that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

Alastair is inspired by this verse on being grounded in love, and in faith of God. “I believe that if we embody and possess these characteristics from God, going out to help people, being selfless to help others will come naturally.”

Foodie tip: Be snack wise

Following last week's episode, Alastair continues with his quest to avoid meals after 8pm. Feeling hungry? Why not try a smoothie?

Fitness Tip: Workout at home

Running isn't for everyone, and that's just fine. Why not work out in the comfort of your own space? From press-ups and sit-ups to yoga, weights, or even simple stretching exercises as a mere few examples. You name it, you can do it...within reason.
