Who can apply for this scholarship?

Students aged 18 – 30 from within the geographic area of the Trans-European Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (TED) who are attending Newbold College for the first time and who enrol for full-time undergraduate studies.

The scholarship is paid out in semester instalments up to a maximum of 2 semesters. Receipt of this scholarship is dependent on proof of attendance to enrolled studies and will, therefore, be distributed towards the end of each semester. The scholarship will be withdrawn if the terms and conditions are not met and the student will become responsible for the payment of all fees incurred.

The scholarships will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis and excellent references from the local church until the funds for the year have been fully allocated.

How much can you expect to receive from the scholarship?

• Students from the following countries - Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Cyprus and Slovenia – applying for undergraduate studies, will receive a scholarship that will cover 100% tuition and 50% room and board for the 2022-2023 academic year.
• Total amount of scholarship for undergraduate studies: £10,674</li, total amount for students to pay £3,082>
• Students from these countries - Denmark, Iceland, Ireland, Finland, Norway, Netherlands, UK and Sweden – applying for undergraduate studies, will receive a scholarship that will cover 50% of their tuition fees. This will amount to £3,796 for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Accommodation will be for a single room and shared bathroom. It is expected that students will purchase the meal plan which will provide 12 meals per week for the duration of the semester in the Newbold Cafeteria.

Please note that the the TED scholarship will be adjusted to 25% of the tuition for all UK students who already receive a BUC scholarship.

The Newbold Student Enrolment Officer will inform you of the outcome of your application during June 2022. In acceptance of the scholarship, you will be asked to sign a declaration form confirming the terms and conditions of the scholarship.

The BUC offers grants to undergraduate and postgraduate students that are members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (in the UK and Ireland). If granted, this grant will last for the duration of a student’s course.

To be eligible, the student (or parents of the students) must have been a resident in the BUC for at least 3 years before studying here, and a member of the Adventist Church in the BUC for at least 1 year.

The grant covers 25% of tuition, accommodation and meal fees, and applications can be submitted directly to the BUC Education department.

Who can apply for this scholarship?

British students who are preparing for the ministry within the British Union Conferences. Funds are to be awarded with the following considerations:

• Initial consideration will be given to Graduate Diploma in Biblical and Pastoral Studies students (They are not usually sponsored by TED/Unions/Conferences or able to access student loans), as well as to women preparing for ministry who are unable to access student loans and/or scholarships from the TED/Unions or Conferences.
• BA (Hons) in Biblical and Pastoral Studies students will be considered if they are unable to access student loans.
• Master of Arts in Theology students will be considered if they are unable to access student loans and/or do not receive sponsorship from TED.
• The application will be considered based on financial need.
• Students must provide evidence of academic potential
• Students must demonstrate that they are committed to working for any Seventh-day Adventist organisation or entity within the British Union Conference.
• Recommendation by your curriculum area head will be expected for continuing students, and new students will be considered based on their entry grades and recommendation by their Conference and Union.
