Newbold College of Higher Education is pleased to welcome Amy Rosenthal, who joins the College team for the next academic year, effective 14th July.
Amy brings with her a distinguished academic career at Andrews University, where she has served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Dean of Undergraduate Education. In this role, she helped establish the University's Office of Undergraduate Education in 2021, created to support faculty, departments, schools, and colleges across the Andrews campus, providing a coordinated framework for student support and academic success initiatives.
Amy holds a PhD in History from Indiana University, specialising in 19th-century Britain and colonial Africa, and her 22-year career reflects a deep commitment to the mission of Adventist higher education.
Amy first visited Newbold College in 1991 and has returned to the campus many times since then, most recently as part of Andrews University's AU Abroad summer study tour experience which began in 2024. "Newbold has held a special place in my heart for many years," Amy says, "so, as I thought about the next phase of my career, the opportunity to contribute to the mission and culture of the institution was both personally and professionally attractive."
At Newbold, Amy will support academic programme development, with the goal of building new programmes and academic partnerships designed to expand student offerings. "One of the things that I enjoy about the process of creating a new academic programme is that it engages every aspect of a campus community. The programme must align with the mission and vision of the institution, while meeting the needs of the local, regional, and denominational constituencies who our graduates will serve."
The College's Principal, Dr Dan Serb, voices the staff sentiment in saying:

Dr Rosenthal brings a wealth of experience in higher education leadership, having previously served at Andrews University and at Southwestern Adventist University. Her expertise, strategic insight, and commitment to Adventist education will be an invaluable asset as Newbold continues to broaden its academic portfolio and serve the evolving needs of students and the wider community."
