The Roundup – Episode 6

A collective of ideas to inspire you, each and every week.

At Newbold, we believe in the power of Monday motivation.

So, Induction Week has come and gone and you find yourself delving into a realm of books, assignments and online classes. It’s a lot, we know – and for some, this is a brand new way of studying. You’re doing brilliantly, and we’re here to support you in more ways than one.

If you are new to the Roundup, welcome! This is a digital series with the sole aim to offer lifestyle tips to inspire you for the week ahead. Although you’re studying virtually, we believe that it’s important to step away from your computer and shift your mindset to help encourage a balanced life.

This week, our Acting Chaplain, Danilo Puskas shares some personal recommendations to help you do just that. Enjoy, and let us know how you get on!

Travel tip: Brecon Beacons, Wales

A place where hilltops, lakes, winding valleys and waterfalls reside, Great Britain's natural beauty can be experienced at Brecon Beacons. Add this to your travel bucket list when you're back on campus!

Activity of the week

Stargazing

Danilo hadn’t stargazed in years, but while in the Brecon Beacons he and his wife Sandra thought they’d take the opportunity on a clear night in the countryside and take a chance. It was such an amazing experience, they were lucky enough to spot the Milky Way for the first time!

Danilo found himself awe-struck by the humbling experience of realising how small you are when you compare yourself to the scope of the stars, the planets and the universe itself. And what’s more breathtaking – that in the midst of all these huge, wonderful creations, God loves you for who you are, as an individual.

Song of the week

"So Will I (100 Billion X)" by Hillsong

Danilo finds himself inspired every time he listens to this beloved Hillsong track. A particular lines close to his heart describes that God would give his only son again, a 100 billion times if it was needed.

That lines makes Danilo really stop and consider how important we are to God as individuals, within this whole universe. This is something he’d love for you to carry with you this week.

Bible verse of the week: Psalm 8

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?

Food tip: Valerian Tea

Made from the roots and stems of the Valerian plant, this caffeine-free tea is known to decrease feelings of stress, and induce inner calm. Now, brownie points to whoever drinks a cup of this glorious tea, whilst listening to Hillsong, and reading Psalm 8 - all under a veil of starlight.
